5 uses of Neem oil for Beauty

Neem oil is extracted from the fruits of Azadirachta indica and is an oil widely used as a natural remedy against insects, bacteria, and fungal infections affecting the skin.

In addition to being rich in fatty acids, Neem oil contains Azadiractin, a molecule that gives this oil an insecticidal, bactericidal action, and antifungal and antiparasitic properties.

It is used in agriculture to protect crops from pest attacks and, in cosmetics, treat mycosis and lice, defend against insect bites, and treat acne-prone skin.

Neem oil is a stable oxidation oil. It is conserved at room temperature and tends to solidify slightly; before using it, you can heat it slightly, even by placing the container under a jet of hot water.

Neem oil absorbs quickly and has an intense coloring and a strong and characteristic odor. Precisely because of the unpleasant smell and the accentuated coloring, it is preferable to dilute the Neem oil in another vegetable oil before applying it on the skin, especially if the areas to be treated are large or affect the face.

Neem oil: The 5 uses

1. Against mycosis of the feet

The mycoses affecting the feet, known as the athlete’s foot, can be effectively treated with Neem oil and Tea tree oil. Mix 5 drops of tea tree oil with a spoonful of Neem oil and use this mixture by massaging it carefully on the feet, particularly around the nails and between the toes.

Fungi of the feet are frequent in people who frequent swimming pools and gyms and can be prevented by drying the feet well before wearing socks; the humid environment creates favorable conditions for the proliferation of fungi.

2. Against insect bites

Neem oil can be useful to defend against mosquito bites and other insects. It can also be used on children, for whom you can prepare a mixture with 40 milliliters of sweet almond oil to dilute 10 milliliters of Neem oil.

Adults can also add 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil, 10 lavender, and 10 mint to enhance the repellent effect. The oil should be massaged on the exposed areas of the body before going out and, if necessary, should be applied again after two or three hours.

3. To fight lice

To get rid of lice, you can prepare a natural compress using the antiparasitic action of Neem oil. To prepare it, soften 90 grams of coconut oil in a bowl and add 10 grams of Neem oil. Mix carefully and add 50 drops of lavender essential oil. Mix and apply on damp hair, leaving it on for about half an hour.

After the exposure time, wash your hair well with a specific shampoo for the treatment of lice. Repeat the treatment every three days for two weeks. To prevent lice, add a few drops of neem oil to the usual shampoo, mixing well.

4. For the treatment of acne

For acne treatment, dilute 10 milliliters of Neem oil in 90 milliliters of Jojoba wax. Add 30 drops of lemon essential oil, 10 drops of tea tree essential oil, and 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Shake and let the preparation rest for at least four hours. Apply the oil locally with a cotton swab and leave to act overnight.

Suppose the area affected by acne is huge. Massage half a teaspoon of oil over the whole area to be treated. You can also use this remedy for hair follicle inflammation caused by hair removal, which causes cysts to form in areas where the skin is more delicate, such as the groin.

5. Against skin parasites

Against skin parasites affecting large body areas, prepare a massage oil by diluting 10 milliliters of Neem oil in 90 milliliters of another vegetable oil, such as sweet almond oil. Next, add 10 drops of tea tree essential oil and 10 drops of lavender essential oil and use the oil by massaging a small amount on the parts to be treated.

You can repeat the operation several times a day; if you do not notice any improvement after a week, contact your doctor or dermatologist.
